Let's Talk Bouquets: Holding, Posing, Preserving

Let's Talk Bouquets: Holding, Posing, Preserving

Why Every Angle of Your Bouquet Matters (and How We Design It That Way)

Your bouquet isn’t just a pretty accessory, it’s one of the most photographed elements of your wedding day. From getting ready shots to first looks, portraits, and flat lays, it’s with you through all the most meaningful moments. That’s why at Refined Studio, we design every single side of your bouquet to be camera-ready so no matter where the lens is, it captures something beautiful.

Here’s how to hold it, pose with it, and preserve it.

1. We Design Your Bouquet to Look Good from Every Angle

Most bouquets are made with one “front” and lots of filler in the back. Not ours.

At Refined Studio, we intentionally build bouquets with movement, texture, and dimension on every side. Why? Because your photographer & videographer are capturing:

- Overhead shots during details

- Side angles during portraits

- Close-ups while you walk down the aisle

- First looks from behind

- Drone shots, flat lays, and even in-motion video

We believe your bouquet should look like it’s blooming naturally—no matter which way it’s turned. That means:

- No visible mechanics or awkward gaps

- Intentional layering of florals at every angle

- Texture and depth that photographs beautifully in motion

2. How to Hold & Pose with Your Bouquet for Gorgeous Photos

Even with a beautifully balanced design, how you hold your bouquet can make a huge difference. Here’s what we guide our brides to do:

For Walking & Candid Moments:

- Hold the bouquet low at your waist or belly button

- Let the blooms face slightly forward, stems tilted toward your body

- Keep elbows relaxed and don’t clutch too tightly

For Portraits:

- Cradle it gently at your side

- Try a side hold for variety (great for highlighting shape and dress details)

- If you're holding it up, do so just below your bust, never directly under your chin

Pro tip: You don’t need to know exactly how to pose, we’re happy to show you on the day of, or coordinate with your photographer to guide bouquet styling.

3. What to Do with Your Bouquet After the Wedding

When the day is done, don’t toss your bouquet in a hotel sink. It deserves better (and so do you). Here are a few meaningful preservation options we offer or recommend:

Pressed Florals

We can press and frame the blooms from your bouquet into a custom keepsake. Let us know you would like your bouquet preserved and we will take it with us at the end of the night! We offer Pressed Florals here!

Watercolor Keepsake

Love art? Commission a soft, romantic painting based on your bouquet. We offer custom bouquet watercolors here!

You’ve chosen every detail of your wedding with care and your bouquet should reflect that same level of intention. At Refined Studio, we don’t design flowers for a single photo. We design florals for every angle, every moment, and every memory.

If you're dreaming of an artistic, garden-style bouquet that looks just as stunning from the back of the aisle as it does in your flat lay, we’d love to create it for you.
